Gastritis is the inflaming of stomach lines which is known as gastric mucosa. It is in fact the result of an interruption in the gastric juices made by the gastric mucosa. Gastritis troubles the stomach walls by unsettling the inner layer of the stomach. In most cases of gastritis, it is unproblematic. Yet, there are several types of gastritis that makes annoyance below the stomach lining because of anemia or bacteria which are prone to grow into ulcers (open sores on the stomach lining).
Some normal symptoms of gastritis are loss of hunger, nausea, vomiting, as well as indigestion. Also, one or two people may have abdominal ache when eating. Chronic gastritis is also common especially among the old-aged people that may remain for longer time and may hold same symptoms or mild discomfort, nausea or loss of appetite may occur. While in cases of acute gastritis, a sudden attack may occur that can last from some hours to some days.
Gastritis Causes
There are many causes of Gastritis but 6 major ones are:
1. Excessive alcohol consumption
Gastritis can be caused because of drinking excessive alcohol. As alcohol is a toxin that bothers the stomach lines which leads to inflammation. If an individual consumes alcohol in a regular basis then this inflammation is more possible since stomach do not get a chance to recover from the annoyance in the lining. This continuous habit of consuming alcohols daily can lead to the bleeding in the stomach lining which develops further problems like ulcers.
2. Bacterial Infection
Normally, Gastritis is caused because of Helicobacter Pylori (a type of bacteria) that remain in the mucous line of the stomach. If treatment is not done at proper time then this bacterial infection can turn to ulcers and develop as stomach cancer.
3. Physical Stress
Stress also causes gastritis and gastritis induced due to stress is also referred as stress-related erosive syndrome, stress-related mucosal disease and stress ulcer syndrome. These causes mucosal erosion and surface hemorrhages in individuals who are seriously ill or in those patients who are under severe physiologic tension. This leads to severe Gastro Intestinal (GI) loss of bloods if proper diagnosis is not done.
4. Excess use of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)
If you take up common pain relieving medicine or NSAIDs on a daily basis or consume the more than the recommended dosage then these medicines may drop off the stomach lining causing gastritis. Damaged or thin stomach lining elevates the risk for gastritis. Check for recommended dosage before you take these kinds of medicine.
5. Older Age
People who are of old age have a greater risk of gastritis since the stomach lines tend to turn thin with the growing age and have more chance to have H. Pylori infection disorders.
6. Autoimmune Alert
When our body’s immune system fights with the cells that form our stomach lining, it results to autoimmune gastritis. This happens when our immune system mistakenly attack healthy cells present in our body. This false alert generates a response from our immune system that can erode to stomach’s defensive wall which can cause gastritis in normal people.
